DFL SD38 Caucus is the meeting of the Precinct where you live. The Precinct is the smallest political
unit. Several Precincts make up a District.
The Caucus will take place on February 7th, 2012,
starting at 6:30pm until 9:00pm. The locations of the Caucus is at the Eagan High School, 4185
Braddock Trail, Eagan, MN 55123 [map].
In the Caucus, the precincts that make up the district get together to decide on important issues.
These are your neighbors who you live next door to! You select Precinct Delegates who will represent
the Precinct in the DFL SD38 Convention.
This is the reason it is important to show up at the Caucus. If you are present, you can be elected to
become a Delegate to the Senate District Convention.
The participants also have a unique opportunity to shape the DFL Constitution through the "Resolution
Process". In this process you can propose ideas and principles that should be included in the DFL
Constitution. Your proposals ("Resolutions) will be voted by the Precinct and passed along to the
Convention where the wider Senate District will vote on them. (Another reason to be in the Convention
as a Delegate - you can defend and explain your ideas and cast a vote in favor of the Resolutions you
proposed!) If your Resolutions pass the vote, the proceed to the wider body of the DFL in Minnesota
for a similar vote.
