Legislative Update - 24 September 2015 - Happy Voter Registration Month Dear Neighbors,
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act. September was declared Voter Registration Month and yesterday was National Voter Registration Day.
Secretary of State Steve Simon is encouraging all eligible Minnesotans who are not yet registered to vote to visit
www.mnvotes.org and register. If you are already registered to vote, you can confirm your voter registration information is up to date, and encourage your friends, family and co-workers to do the same.
Voting is a crucial part of a keeping our democracy strong and our community engaged. I know many of you are actively engaged in the electoral process, but this is also an important reminder to talk to your friends, family members, and neighbors about registering to vote.
The voter registration process in Minnesota is easier and more convenient than ever before, but there is still work to do. While Minnesota has more than 3.1 million registered voters, there are an additional 800,000 citizens who are eligible but have not yet registered to vote.
Remember, you can register to vote from the comfort of your own home by going online to
www.mnvotes.org. You can also
register at the polls on Election Day or when
applying for or renewing your driver's license. Voter registration applications are also available at
every state agency,
all 87 county offices throughout the state, and
online in English, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Please contact me if you have any questions about this process.
Sincerely,
Sandra Masin
State Representative
